A pizza oven hearth is built in layers: a cooking surface of fire brick or castable on top, an insulating layer of vermiculite or perlite concrete or similar underneath, all on a solid base. The insulation stops heat draining out of the floor, so pizzas keep baking evenly from below.
Send us your hearth dimensions and planned layers and we will quote the materials for each one.
